- Provincial Court of British Columbia - The Provincial Court is the first level of court in British Columbia. The Court's
jurisdiction includes criminal, family, child protection, small claims, and traffic cases.

The Federal Court
of Canada - The Federal Court is Canada's national trial
court which hears and decides legal disputes arising in the
federal domain, including claims against the Government of
Canada, civil suits in federally-regulated areas and challenges
to the decisions of federal tribunals. Its authority derives
primarily from the Federal Courts Act.

The Federal Court of Appeal
- The Federal Court of Appeal is a court established by
Parliament in accordance with provision of section 101 of the
Constitution Act, 1867, "for the better administration of the
laws of Canada". This Court is also responsible for
enforcing the various rights and obligations between Canadians
and the federal government. It often decides issues pertaining
to the social benefits granted to Canadians by the federal
government, the level of taxation imposed on individuals and
corporations by the federal government, and labour relations
between the federal government and its employees.

Supreme Court of Canada
- The Supreme Court of Canada is Canada's final court of appeal,
the last judicial resort for all litigants, whether individuals
or governments. Its jurisdiction embraces both the civil law of
the province of Quebec and the common law of the other provinces
and territories.

- Federal Department of Justice - helps the
federal government to develop policy and to make and reform laws as needed and serves
Canadians by acting as the Government's law firm. The Minister of Justice is also the
Attorney General of Canada.
- Law Society of British Columbia -
regulates B.C. lawyers and legal services, provides information to the public, and
publishes and distributes professional manuals and materials.
- The Access to Justice Network (ACJNet) is an electronic community that brings together
people, information, and educational resources on justice and legal issues of interest to Canadians. It uses new technologies to create and distribute products and services and to facilitate broad base consultations. ACJNet is the only
nationwide service dedicated to making law and justice resources available to all Canadians in either official language. ACJNet is a project of the Legal Studies,
Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta. It is supported by funding from the Alberta Law Foundation.
